Most of what is written about car detailing is written to sell car detailing. Ask whether a ceramic coating is worth it and you will find a hundred pages that say yes, written by people who fit them. We fit them too, so read what follows with that in mind — but every one of these guides says plainly where the answer is no, because we would rather lose a job than take money for the wrong thing and have you tell people it was a waste.
They are here because the questions get asked. What should this cost. Is the expensive one worth it. Will a coating stop scratches. Do I need to do anything before I sell the car. Those get typed into Google months before anybody books anything, and they deserve a straight answer rather than a quote form.
If you are trying to work out what to spend

If you are deciding about ceramic coating
Read that one before you get quotes. The important part is not the coating, it is what has to happen to the paint first — and that is where the price differences between quotes usually hide.
If you are selling the car
The guide to getting a car ready to sell is the shortest, and the one with the clearest answer: spend on the interior and the wheels, take better photographs, and skip almost everything else.
If you have just had work done
The aftercare guide is the one to keep. The first week after a coating matters more than the next year, and most of what goes wrong is a wash technique rather than the coating failing.
